12 Dryer

Ready pressed, the tiles are now supplied to a dryer and stored there for several hours. The tile blank is thus extracted moisture again. This drying process is the basic pre-condition for the subsequent processing.

13 Engobe-slipping/glazing station

In the course of engobe slipping, the most common kind of finish coating, a spraying machine is spreading a fine mist of thin clay slurry on the roofing tiles. In the course of the baking, the engobe slip eventually compounds with the actual body to form a unit.
The processing allows for the adding of colour to our roofing tile models and to provide them with their lasting fastness. This is the way our high-quality „NUANCE“ collection is manufactured.
In principle, glazing works just like engobe-slipping, as here too, the glazing mixture that consists of ground and pre-melted quartzes is spread evenly on the roofing tile by means of centrifuge cabins, before the tiles are conveyed further to the furnace.
Our roofing tiles of the large-scale glazing range „FINESSE“ with the Roof Protection Factor, as well as of the exclusive „NOBLESSE“ collection are provided with a very smooth surface. This is the reason why dirt particles cannot deposit there for long. The next rain will simply wash the dirt away. Glazed CREATON roofs will therefore be in mint condition and appealing even after decades.
