The history of MEINDL

1895

Building of a ring furnace in Reit/Bavaria by Josef Meindl, the company's founder .

1904

Aquisistion of the future company premises in Dorfen-Orlfing

1945

The company retiles the symbol of Munich, the Church of Our Lady, after the end of the War using the flat interlocking tile „MZ 3“.

1966

Palnt I is taken into operation with fully automated production and tunnel furnace.

1970

Building of Plant II intended for the fully automated production of interlocking tiles and of „ROMANO“.

1980

Plant III is built in Dorfen.

1982

The roof of the Church of Our Lady was retiled in the course of a total redevelopment using the cloister tile „ANTICO“ - a tile especially developed for that purpose.

2005

Josef Meindl GmbH is taken over by the Belgian Etex Group. Today, all MEINDL products are distributed via the CREATON Brand Association.
